With the presentation of the creative itineraries of ten artists known as part of the proposals and
state-of-the-art experiments nationwide, a new dedicated exhibition space opens
to contemporary arts, with the aim of enhancing and promoting current research and fueling the
dialogue, encounter, reflection on the aspects of creativity of our time.
This exhibition stems from the desire to “build” together with the artists a path for the gaze,
involving the attentive observer to grasp the various and different points of view proposed by each one
through works of particular significance, so as to allow and solicit a critical capacity,
a different way of seeing beyond habit and an approach anchored to schemes
pre-established.
The exhibition itinerary was “built” gradually in a succession of phases and in a completely way
singular, paying attention to the process of making art. It all arose from an encounter with
the artists in the association’s spaces to discuss how to design and set up together
the entire itinerary, during which the idea of proposing one among them that could be posed by was developed
“Through” for others, visiting the studios to choose together the works to show, so as to coexist
as works – emblem in the same place. This task was entrusted to Alberto Moretti,
artist and at the same time cultural promoter of the Galleria Schema active in Florence for almost a
thirty years from the beginning of the seventies to the end of the nineties and whose operational work is oriented
towards the major avant-garde experiences there is currently a large archive awaiting
be adequately housed in the spaces of a foundation.
Thus began the “journey” through the artists’ studios, approaching them in the most concrete way
aspects of “making art”, reflecting with everyone on the relationship of creative works with the space in which
exhibit them, on the possibility of also designing new ones in relation to a creative tension that exists
nourished in the “making”, in the “building” of the path. Everyone has “felt” the situation to be processed
and he “responded” in a different way with regard to his own ways of working, of interrelation with the
place and with people, with other artists, with hypothetical visitors. We dealt with Alberto
to record, remember, annotate elements, ideas, generated by the conversations, as “notes of
travel ”, in order to organize a complexity of interventions and suggest a direction for the
show.
The dedication to Alberto of this initiative was born from the title of a work by Fabio Cresci, elaborated for
the occasion; has obtained the consent of all the artists, to testify the esteem of each one towards whom,
as Alberto Moretti has lived for years in contact with the major avant-garde experiences and
with the most original artists of the creative experimentation of the last decades, as a figure who
it can give an answer relative to the contemporary artistic “situation”, with which to put one
question and discuss current research guidelines.
