CONCORSO ARTISTA IN RESIDENCE
Il Cantiere d’Arte Galleria Alberto Moretti Schema di Carmignano, che testimonia una lunga storia nell’ambito dell’arte contemporanea attraverso gli archivi della stessa galleria e le attività culturali promosse e realizzate dagli anni Settanta fino ad oggi come “luogo” dell’arte contemporanea esperienze e motore centrale della sperimentazione creativa, promossa in collaborazione con l’Associazione Sincresis di Empoli per organizzare un concorso volto a far crescere gli scambi culturali e i processi di integrazione e confronto di stili, generazioni e nazioni verso ricerche ed esperienze creative per giovani artisti under 35 che può stabilire un’interazione con l’ambiente interculturale locale tra due province, Prato e Firenze. Questo progetto in relazione all’avviso pubblico Arte Contemporanea 2013 Regione Toscana riunisce due comuni, Carmignano ed Empoli, due Onlus dedicate all’arte contemporanea nel paesaggio e nella natura attraverso il percorso del Montalbano, lo stesso Cantiere d’Arte Alberto Moretti/ Galleria Schema di Carmignano e SINCRESIS di Empoli, con il sostegno della Regione Toscana, e coinvolge anche le istituzioni dedite alla formazione come la scuola secondaria di secondo grado in essa presente e l’Accademia delle arti visive di Firenze.
L’intento è quello di valorizzare il lavoro creativo di artisti, soprattutto di altri paesi, che possano instaurare un’interazione con il territorio e stimolare la nostra riflessione non solo sull’arte del nostro tempo, ma soprattutto sulla cultura come terreno di scambio e condivisione di valori, sull’esperienza quotidiana e sulla situazione socio-culturale che stanno vivendo in quei tempi di globalizzazione e superando ogni barriera, risiedono in un contesto diverso. Può darsi che un dibattito sull’interculturalità, sull’integrazione, sulla commistione, sul nomadismo socio-culturale e territoriale, che permetta un confronto basato sul dialogo, in grado di proporsi come luogo aperto di confronto su una serie di temi di attualità da vicino e di affrontare un varietà di aspetti legati alla comprensione della diversità nel rispetto dell’uguaglianza, che affonda nelle radici storiche di ambienti che rappresentano una diversa politica per la vita e il lavoro in relazione alle differenze culturali.
Gli artisti selezionati sono Iago Eireos e Justyna Gruszczyk, due giovani che hanno presentato un workshop il 16 aprile all’Accademia di Arti Visive e il 20 aprile all’Accademia LABA di Firenze per cercare di coinvolgere gli studenti nell’elaborazione di materiali utili per preparare la mostra finale degli artisti il 24 aprile 2015. Il recupero della memoria, il valore dell’esperienza, dell’identità in relazione al loro stile di vita nomade dei tempi moderni. Justyna attraverso il progetto intende ricostruire la Cattedrale della mappa sacra di Gniezno, puntando a recuperare un luogo, anche se inesistente e utopico della comunità polacca migrante al mondo, Iago attraverso il progetto memoria del paesaggio aggiunto propone una ricostruzione dell’immaginario esperienze e possibili scenari generati dalla mappatura aperti alla ricerca dell’identità attraverso lo studio dei territori e un’installazione come appropriazione dello spazio. I progetti sono legati all’analisi del fatto storico geografico e sociale mirato al territorio di Montalbano e al luogo specifico di vita e opera dell’artista Alberto Moretti.

Tuscany Region Municipality of Carmignano Municipality of Empoli Yard Art Alberto Moretti/ Schema Gallery in Carmignano Sincresis Association & Artist in Residence in Empoli The Yard Art Alberto Moretti Schema Gallery in Carmignano, testifies to a time long history in the context of contemporary art through the archives of the same gallery and cultural activities promoted and implemented from the seventies until to today as a “place ” of contemporary artistic experiences and core engine of creative experimentation, capable of exploiting the recent evidence in the multiple sides of art and culture. In this case, seeks to organize a competition aimed to promote cultural exchanges and the processes of integration and comparison of styles, generations and nations moving towards research and creative experiences for young artists under 35 who can establish an interaction with the local inter-cultural environment between two provinces, Prato and Florence. This project brings together two municipalities, Carmignano and Empoli, two non-profit organizations dedicated to contemporary art in landscape and nature through the path of Montalbano, the same Yard Art Alberto Moretti/ Schema Gallery in Carmignano and SINCRESIS in Empoli, with the support of Tuscany Region, and also involves institutions dedicated to training such as secondary school level present in it and the Academy of visual arts in Florence. The intent is to enhance the creative work of artists, especially from other countries that can establish an interaction with the territory and stimulate our thoughts not only about the art of our time, but mainly on culture as a ground for exchange and sharing of values, on everyday experience and socio-cultural situation they are living in those times of globalization and overcoming any barrier, reside in a different context. It may well be that a debate on interculturalism, integration, mixing, on the socio-cultural and territorial nomadism, allowing a comparison based on dialogue, able to promote as an open forum for discussion on a range of current issues closely and to address a variety of aspects related to the understanding of diversity in respect of equality, which sinks into the historical roots of environments that stand for a different policy for life and work in relation to culture differences. The non-profit association Yard Art Alberto Moretti/Schema Gallery since 2007 has organized and curated events related to the arts , especially contemporary character of the exhibition Space Art Alberto Moretti/ Schema Polis municipality of Carmignano in continuity with a wide ranging program of international proposed in previous decades in Florence. The president is currently Raul Dominguez SINCRESIS is a cultural non-profit organization for contemporary art founded in 2006 whose president is Alessandra Scappini. After a series of exhibitions by artists of national and meetings/ conferences for the presentation of artistic experiments of our time has changed a part of its space according to an artist residency program began in September 2012. Among the goals of these associations appears the promotion of culture and art practices such as the development of intercultural routes ( between styles, generations and nations ) through research in the various languages of artists of different generations and from every country that operate in multiple sectors art and culture, and to promote cultural exchanges and the processes of integration and comparison with activities and strategies. The Yard Art Moretti/ Schema Gallery Polis has an exhibition space. SINCRESIS has spaces for artist residency, workshops and studio for exhibitions. The competition in question arises, therefore, the need to know and appreciate the art practices of generations and different countries in the idea of ensuring the enjoyment of residences for artists under 35 in order to allow the elaboration and implementation of selected projects operating in various fields in order to create a dialogue and a comparison of experiments and set up an archive/ dossiers also be proposed to exchange experiences with other institutions that are characterized as artist residencies . The theme is the environmental art as site-specific project, through the analysis of our country mainly from the perspective of socio-cultural than natural environment, in which emerges a historical record, the home studio of Alberto Moretti in relation to Carmignano to an environment that includes a variety of natural features such as land parcels and the wooded trails, grassland near to the architectural structure. The environmental art as an artistic expression of our time enables us to appreciate the past and his testimonies suggesting a connection with the experiments and researches of our present, grafting in the historical and artistic places more connotative, the natural environment and daily life, that can accommodate a project created specifically for them, such as analysis and comparison of dialogue with their history, with their experience and their cultural environment, with the community who lives in the territory. How to capture the value of ‘ living art by examining the fabric of relationships, suggestions, impressions, energy, emotions, environmental art presents itself as a “sign”, a “trace ” in the landscape and in pregnant lived without necessarily having to propose works in monumental size but those generated by the environment itself. Participants in the competition must develop a project mainly designed for the socio-cultural environment; they have a place to live and work, as a first draft clearly can calibrate and edit on the spot if they will be selected to live and work in residence and found the actual feasibility. The site-specific project will distinguish itself for the interaction with the territory, her past, such as the socio-cultural and the suggestions of the environment in which goes to dive, and the artist will be able to ensure a period of stay as artist in residence in which be able to work on the project itself, calibrate aspects in relation to a full immersion in our area from the socio – cultural and natural point of view. The selected artists will be accompanied to visit the studios of other artists to exchange experiences with the ability to collaborate on the project, and the spaces devoted to contemporary art in our region, to be followed in the processing steps as a work in progress in a manner similar to mentoring, presenting the results in an exhibition at the end of the stay of work and research accompanied by specific lectures and lessons tours. Goals of competition: – Enhancement of the local territory and its resources and stays, with particular reference to the cultural and social environment, in daily life, to the artistic heritage – cultural respect to the home studio of the artist Alberto Moretti in Carmignano and the revaluation of the evidence of its past, with specific considerations related to the Schema Gallery in Florence. – Critical reflection and rediscovery of the places lived as daily aspects of the present life and the vitality of a region in terms of natural and economic history. – Reflection on artistic creation as a mixture between the generative aspects, aesthetic and functional own art making, the relationship between conception and execution, tradition and innovation, through a close dialogue with the lived environment. – Promoting understanding and appreciation of the artistic expressions of our relationship to the past in the present, with particular reference to the research and experimentation of artists under 35 belonging to different generations and ethnic groups, fueling the intercultural dialogue. Everyone can participate with one or more projects in relation to the choice of the type of project. The participating artist must submit the following documents: Portfolio relative to the last two/ three years of artistic or curatorial images, explanatory text and critical documents. The portfolio and the required materials must be submitted in digital format (pdf, jpg). Mode of selection and award The jury is convened on the basis of a large number of participants, a pre-selection and final selection of projects based on the material submitted. The portfolio and the data sheet / the project /s will not be returned. Be granted at least two awards of residence of different duration from a minimum of ten days to a maximum of twenty days by 2014, according to the characteristics of the project, providing, by the jury, the appropriate time frame for its implementation and the organization of an exhibition or presentation of the work done during the indicated/times. For the first two projects selected artists will be guaranteed residence free of charge. During the residency the artists selected may work to the proposed project in the space of the association SINCRESIS and in contact with the historical context and the socio-cultural environment of the area, considering a visit to Alberto Moretti home studio to set up a direct dialogue with the ‘environment, for an accurate comparison with the experience and to take impressions, impressions, emotions, energies from the same place. They could also modify the project based on the emergencies of the territory and to the particularities of the place so that they will develop an appropriate proposal to the environment created specifically examined. Each project will be presented at the Space Art Alberto Moretti in Carmignano. It involves to organize a workshop by each artist selected in the spaces of SINCRESIS association or spaces made available by the two municipalities of Empoli and Carmignano, or in interested educational institutions. In fact our interest is to supply the knowledge of creative experiences in the field of contemporary arts and allow the cultural growth especially of the younger generation in our area that includes the Province of Prato and the Province of Florence, with the participation, as partners, of non-profit association SINCRESIS of Empoli, the municipality of Carmignano, the Municipality of Empoli, the Acdemy of Visual Arts in Florence, through workshops for a target of audience between 18 and 24 years old, then secondary school students in second grade, academies and universities, organizing workshops with the artists selected based on multimedia production made by the students themselves. on the exchange of knowledge, on comparison, on communication, sharing of experiences to feed training processes according to new educational models that allow the acquisition of transferable skills through a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching. Depending on the type of the proposed project will be assessed the feasibility and, probably, the possibility of carrying out on-site in the same period in which the artist benefits from the residence advantage for the realization of the works of the materials and, when it will be possible, to accompany in the territory. The works, if feasible, will be installed. During the period of residence of the selected artists will work on your project in the spaces of the association, with the necessary precautions, will meet artists and critics, to be accompanied to visit the parks in Tuscany and art spaces and institutions for contemporary art . The images of each selected project and the work done during the residency will provide documentation to be published on the website of news organizations and websites dedicated to contemporary art of national importance. It will be produced as an ebook multimedia catalogue for the entire creative process and the experience took place in residence. At the end of the residency and presentation of work in progress every artist would to leave at least one job/ work that will become part of the collection of the ‘Association Art yard Alberto Moretti / Schema Gallery, otherwise could withdraw within ten days from the end of the residence with its own means or the association may provide for the postponement only on delivery to the consignee . Regulation Participation in the competition is bound to pay the entry fee. The call is open to artists under 35 of any nationality and country of origin . Each winner will be awarded by the Committee on a free residence lasting from ten to twenty days in the 2014, according to the characteristics of the project and the logistical and technical aspects of construction, to be completed by organizing a presentation of the work done and the eventual realization of the final project. The selected artists will be able to choose whether they prefer to stay alone or together with another artist in residence in the same period . The technical details and the portfolio will not be returned. Expiration dates may be subject to changes reported in the news website of the association SINCRESIS. The exhibited works or papers presented at the closing of the exhibition and at the end of the residence will be withdrawn, leaving at least one of them at the home studio Alberto Moretti in Carmignano intention to help the creation of a place of art in relation to the collection already exists. Its works may be withdrawn within ten days otherwise it will be returned with the association fee paid by the recipient.
