PARTICIPATE AND HELP THE REOPENING OF ACTIVITIES AND ART SPACES SINCRESIS TUSCANY
SINCRESIS is a non-profit cultural association active in Tuscany since 2006 with the aim of promoting the contemporary arts of the area and welcoming artists from different countries, also working with emerging contemporary artists, to present their creative work. It organizes exhibitions, conferences, workshops, participates in art fairs and offers artist residency programs. Over the years SINCRESIS has contributed to train, inform and open contemporary creativity in Tuscany to the world and also involving artists beyond the regional and national territory.
SINCRESIS reopens to promote and organize an exhibition dedicated to artist’s books lasting three months in its spaces. Each artist’s book will be exhibited in the association’s spaces and at the same time will be present with appropriate images in the SINCRESIS Instagram profile and on the association’s website to ensure maximum visibility.
The intent is to enhance the artist’s book as a precious creation that stands out as an expression of an individual poetics and as a work that integrates a multiplicity of aspects such as to characterize the work of an artist in its presentation to the general public.
During the exhibition, the participating artists and their book-works will be presented every week in a video conference in streaming on the association’s Facebook profile.
At least three artists will be guaranteed a free stay in residence at SINCRESIS to create a workshop dedicated to the artist’s book during the period of the exhibition, also presenting their creative itinerary, if their proposed book-works have reached the maximum number of preferences expressed both by the public visiting the exhibition and through specific surveys included in the “stories” of Instagram, and by the organizing commission.
The project was born, therefore, from the need to make contemporary artistic experiences known and valued, allowing dialogue, exchange and reflection on artistic creation as a mixture of the generative, aesthetic and functional aspects of making art, from the conception to execution.
The organizing commission reserves the right not to select inadequate materials for the exhibition that are not relevant as a work of art, sending them back to the participants. The commission’s judgment is unquestionable.
The organization is curated by two historians and contemporary art critics, Alessandra Scappini, president of the association, and Spela Zidar, who coordinated workshops and organized artist presentations in the context of projects promoted by the association.
In the case that more than one hundred artist’s books are received, they will also be exhibited, subject to selection, as part of the exhibition.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Each artist can participate by sending at least two images of the book they wish to present to the following email address info@sincresisarte.com attaching their curriculum or portfolio, the completed registration form required, a copy of an identity document and the receipt of payment of a contribution of 20 euros as a donation to the association useful for arranging and organizing workshops and presentations of online books relating to the event (the receipt of the indicated donation will be sent by email from the association to each individual participant).

The delivery of the book proposed by each artist can take place directly at the exhibition spaces of the SINCRESIS Association in Via della Repubblica 52/54, 50053 Empoli (Florence) Italy, Phone +39 0571 73619 or by post to the same address. All the postage costs are covered by participating artists.
SINCRESIS plans to select the materials sent by 2021 to carry out the exhibition in the first months of 2022, and, in any case, as soon as the materials sent have been evaluated and an adequate number of artist’s books have been reached as indicated in the title “100X100 “.
The artist’s books received will be displayed according to the characteristics and particularities of the artistic work. The artist’s books received will be exhibited jointly at the time of the oopening and throughout the entire period of the exhibition.
The workshops held by the artists whose book-work have reached a maximum of preferences will be organized at times established compatibly with their needs and with the availability of adequate spaces in the association’s spaces during the three months of exhibition.
The artist’s books received will be displayed according to the necessities, characteristics and particularities of the art work. also in digital form. The artist’s books received will be exhibited at the time of the opening and throughout the entire period of the exhibition.
SINCRESIS plans to present artist’s books not only in own spaces but also in an artist’s book fair possibly by 2022.
At the end of the three-month exhibition, the artist’s books presented can be collected directly from the association’s exhibition spaces or will be returned by post or express courier, with due caution, to be paid by the participants.
Participants, at the time of sending the application form, unconditionally accept the methods of conducting the exhibition and organizing the related activities.
The materials considered inadequate by the organizing commission will be returned by post to be paid by the participants.
